I missed my Mounjaro dose—what should I do?

The answer depends on how long it has been. Do not double the dose or squeeze two injections too close together.

The four-day rule

4 days or less

Take it when you remember

Give yourself the missed injection as soon as possible. Then take your next dose on your usual scheduled day.

More than 4 days

Skip the missed dose

Do not take the late injection. Wait and take your next dose on your usual scheduled day.

Never take a double dose. There must be at least three days between two Mounjaro injections.

A simple example

If your usual injection day is Monday and you remember on Thursday, you can take the missed dose. If you do not remember until Saturday, skip it and take your next dose on Monday as usual.

If the dates mean there would be fewer than three days between doses, or you are not sure how to count the days, ask a pharmacist or your clinical team before injecting.

Can I change my usual injection day?

You can change your weekly injection day if needed, provided there are at least three days between injections. Once you choose the new day, continue weekly on that day.

Do not repeatedly move doses closer together to fit work, weekends or travel.

If missed doses keep happening

Choose a reminder that fits your life: a phone alert, calendar entry or linking the injection to a regular weekly routine. Tell the clinical team if you have missed several doses, have been unwell or have had a longer treatment break, because restarting may need individual advice.

If you have taken too much

Get urgent advice from NHS 111 if you have taken more than your prescribed dose. Do not wait to see whether symptoms develop.
