What to do this week

  • Take only the dose you have been prescribed, on your chosen weekly day.
  • Notice changes in appetite, fullness, nausea, bowel habit and energy.
  • Choose smaller meals and stop when comfortably full.
  • Sip fluids regularly, especially if you have nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea.
  • Include some protein and nourishment even if your appetite is quieter.
  • Write down any questions you want the clinical team to answer.

What can be normal?

Some people notice very little. Others experience nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation, stomach discomfort or reduced appetite. These effects are often most noticeable when starting tirzepatide and commonly settle with time.

You do not need to feel side effects for the medicine to be working, and stronger side effects do not mean better weight loss.

Do not wait for the four-week questionnaire

Ask for medical advice if symptoms are bothering you or not settling. Seek urgent help if you cannot keep fluids down, are passing very little urine, feel faint or very unwell, or develop severe persistent stomach pain. Call 999 for difficulty breathing or rapid swelling of the lips, tongue or throat.
